About Rightvet
A clearer view of the UK vet market
Rightvet exists because pet owners should be able to see what vets charge, who owns them, and how transparent they really are. Without guesswork, phone calls, or marketing fog.
The idea started with a question that turned out to be surprisingly hard to answer: how much does my vet actually charge compared to others nearby?
Not an estimate. Not vague reassurance. An actual number.
We checked websites, called practices, and compared experiences. The result was the same almost everywhere: fragmented information, inconsistent disclosure, and no reliable way to compare.
At the same time, the market was changing fast. Large groups were acquiring practices across the UK, prices were rising, and ownership was often invisible to the people paying the bills.
So Rightvet was built to make that information visible.
The problem
Three things that should not have been hard to find
Prices were hidden
Pet owners could compare almost every other household cost more easily than veterinary care. Most practices published little or nothing online.
Ownership was invisible
A practice might look independent while sitting inside a much larger group. That does not make it bad. It does make transparency important.
Marketing replaced evidence
Pet owners were asked to trust brand language and star ratings without seeing pricing, ownership, and reviews in one place.
What Rightvet is
Built around evidence, not persuasion
Rightvet is free to use and designed to answer the practical questions people have when choosing or questioning a veterinary practice.
Pricing
Published veterinary prices from practice websites, compared locally and nationally.
Ownership
Whether a practice is independent, part of a group, or connected to a larger network.
Reviews
Google reviews, ratings, and AI-generated summaries of what pet owners say.
Methodology
How the scoring works is published. Credibility should survive inspection.
Our standards
The rules we set for ourselves
No ads
No sponsored placement
No pay-to-rank model
No practice-funded scores
Public-source evidence only
Free for pet owners
Public sources only
Every number traces back to a practice website, the RCVS register, Google Places, or Companies House. We do not accept marketing claims from practices.
Independent by design
Rightvet is not funded by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any veterinary practice, chain, pharmaceutical company, or insurance provider.
Useful before perfect
The market is changing faster than regulation. Pet owners need better visibility now. We would rather show clearly sourced information today than wait for a better official system.
Why now
The CMA made the problem visible. It did not create it.
The Competition and Markets Authority put formal weight behind concerns many pet owners already felt: rising prices, weak transparency, and too little information to make informed decisions. The CMA’s remedies include stronger price publication and ownership disclosure. Those are exactly the areas Rightvet already covers. But Rightvet was not built because a regulator started asking questions. It was built because pet owners should not have to wait for regulation to access basic information about what their vet charges and who stands behind the practice.
